Handlooms

Celebrating our handloom weavers and their amazing creations this month.  Starting with the weavers who work on our lightweight textiles in Kerala, southern India. The above image shows Shobha creating a textile on a large wooden handloom setup in an open air environment that is covered.  You can see how lush and tropical it is there. Such a beautiful smile!  She was chuckling a bit after seeing my attempt at working on her handloom.  I'll share a video later of this, which is pretty much guaranteed to make you laugh too. Preparing the warp. This is Sarojini, another radiant and talented weaver that is very highly skilled.  She makes weaving on a handloom look easy, but it requires a lot...

Pop-Up at ABC Carpet & Home

I'm over the moon that M+A NYC is participating in a Pop-Up at ABC Carpet & Home's iconic flagship store in NYC, hosted by Field + Supply.  It's been one of my favorite home stores for as long as I can remember.  Their merchandisers and visual display experts are true masters, and they have a unique and special way of presenting lots of different and beautiful products together in really compelling vignettes. For a limited time, if you live in or near NYC, this is a great opportunity to see a bunch of our textiles up close, as well as the work of over 30 F+S designers and makers participating in the Pop-Up.  Hope to see you there!  Here is...

KINGSTON DESIGN SHOWHOUSE 2020

Still thinking about how wonderful and inspiring the Third Annual Kingston Design Showhouse was last month.  I feel lucky and honored to have been a part of it.   It made me so happy to see M+A NYC in a couple of the rooms in this grand old house, and to see our pieces mixed in so beautifully with the work of other designers that I greatly admire.  Am grateful to Krishna Fitzpatrick of Krishna Fitzpatrick Interiors and Maryline Damour and Melvin Jones of Damour Drake for including me in their projects.
